A drug-related imaging response can be region-specific rather than a global normalization.
What the paper found
The psychosis-risk experiment assessed hippocampal CA1 functional connectivity after diazepam and placebo. Connectivity with ventromedial prefrontal cortex increased under diazepam, while selected amygdala connectivity differences relative to healthy controls persisted.
Limits of the evidence
Functional connectivity is a statistical relationship between imaging signals, not direct proof of restored clinical function. Acute imaging outcomes cannot establish prevention of later psychosis. Comparisons across multiple pathways also require attention to correction and the prespecified analysis.
Implications for case review
Keep the particular connection with the claim. A broadly stated normalized brain scan would omit the unchanged findings. The study cannot establish unimpaired judgment, treatment success or an individual disease prognosis from a network response alone; those require separate clinical outcomes and longitudinal evidence.
