Cannabis-Hyperemesis Case Combined Lorazepam With Repeated Hot Showers

A brief case described symptom improvement and early discharge under several simultaneous changes. It did not establish lorazepam as a proven treatment for all cannabis-related vomiting.

The reported course

A man with longstanding daily cannabis use presented after several days of vomiting and abdominal pain. A urine screen was positive for THC, and hot showers relieved symptoms.

During admission he received lorazepam and continued hot showers, with improvement followed by discharge the next day. The authors discussed possible mechanisms and a need for further study.

What cannot be separated

Medication, bathing, supportive care, the natural course, and interruption of exposure overlap in this narrative. It cannot determine how much relief came from lorazepam or whether improvement would have occurred without it.

A positive urine THC result alone is not a complete diagnostic test for the syndrome. The report also does not establish long-term recurrence prevention or a benzodiazepine safety profile in repeated vomiting. It supplies a hypothesis-generating clinical example, with diagnosis, symptomatic relief, and longer-term exposure management remaining distinct questions.
