The same drug and route can yield different exposure when the formulation changes.
What the supplied paper shows
A veterinary review described intranasal midazolam and diazepam rescue options and summarized pharmacokinetic studies using solutions, gels and delivery devices. Reported bioavailability and peak timing differed across those preparations.
Limits of the finding
The evidence was canine and combined studies with differing methods. A formulation’s average bioavailability is not proof of the dose actually delivered during a seizure or a human absorption estimate.
What matters in a forensic review
Record the preparation, concentration, delivery device and any administration difficulty. Do not assume that injectable solution used nasally is equivalent to a purpose-designed nasal product. The review illustrates formulation dependence; applying it to a case requires the actual route and product rather than a general benzodiazepine label.
