The behavior changed under conflict rather than across every choice condition.
What the source reports
The study developed three rat tasks involving threats and rewards. A low diazepam exposure reduced risk assessment and facilitated reward-directed action when the competing threat was present. Comparable effects were not observed when the task lacked that conflict.
Limits and uncertainty
The work validated experimental behavior, not legal decision-making or human personality. Food motivation, learned threat and movement can each affect performance. A favorable control result in this battery does not establish that every rodent anxiety assay responds identically.
Application to expert review
For discussing disinhibition, identify the task’s competing incentives and the precise action measured. Do not convert increased reward approach in rats into proof of impulsivity or intent in a person. Context-specific effects are narrower than a general claim that diazepam increases all risk taking.
